Kuerner's Farm
In the summer of 2012 I was blessed with the opportunity to spend three months painting as a guest of the Kuerners at Kuerner's farm in Chadd's Ford, Pennsylvania. Thanks to their hospitality, granting me the permission, I was able to have one of the most intensive painting experiences of my life. During that time mr.s kuerner sat for me while I did his portrait. Anytime it looked like rain he'd appear and say" I can set for ya'. I would drop what I was painting and meet him in the wood shed, I would work while he talked about his days growing up on the farm, he relationship with Andrew Wyeth and his memories of Andy and Helga.
Since that time I have enjoyed a rich and lasting friendship with the Kuerners and return there whenever I am back in Pennsylvania to continue the work. Some visits home last through the winter during which I am able to catch the farm covered in snow. I love this as it is how I remember my favorite Wyeth paintings. The cold can be challenging and I am always trying to find ways to work in the bitter cold.
