Autumn at Kuerner's

Kuerner's farm is most famous for being one of the subjects of the great American painter Andrew Wyeth. That is why I went in search of it and have painted it many times. When I first found Kuerner's farm, I was invited to explore the property and was able to paint from the inside. After that I'd sit on the country roadside and work with my toes tucked in just off the road. That tiny country road is now a major thoroughfare, though it isn't a bit wider. Now the cars are flying by at 70 miles an hour... around the curve just past the tips my frightened toes. That is how it was when I painted this. I am usually back there in fall or winter. It get's very cold. I will go and sit in my car for a minute if I am just too bitter cold to draw a clean line. This site was bought by the Brandywine consevancy and is now a museum.
