A Witness to Time

The sugar mill in Paia pumped and churned for many of my early years on Maui. Little by little it slowed to a hault. It stood beautifully up the hill and in all it's stages of disintegration, it has been a wonderful watercolor painter's subject. Ideal. More and more the old ways dissappear and the Wall-Marts and Costco's take there place. Once they do, and all of the competition has been eliminated, I am sure we will be paying more for everything than we ever have. And then it will be too late to go back.
