Brenneman and Brady's Drug Store
I said in my bio that the buildings in Ambler were beautiful and ornate. This Masour Roof can be found a lot around town. I remember these roofs as mystifying to a very young artist, because they seemed so hard to draw.
Brenneman and Brady's was one of a few drug stores in Ambler. I would have to say the most classic. I was sure to include some cobalt jars in the window to signify the old time apothecary feel, I remember inside. A friend had managed to ask for a few when they closed down and they now decorate her home.
Like in all my paintings of Ambler, they are about what they meant to me growing up. A fire escape which led to an unexplored roof top, just out of reach, was something incredibly entising. That is what I remember, wanting to get up that fire escape.
