Boiler Erection and Repair
The Boiler plant was one of the factories thatran up Main Street along the railroad tracks in Ambler. It was, for one thing a short cut across the asbestos dumps and into the woods along the Wissahickon Creek. It was a dark mysterious rumbling place. Men from who knows where, came and went when the shifts changed. Inside you could see them welding in the big empty space within. Differnt colored beams of light shot through the randomly broken factory windows.
In recent years it has been completely and sadly erased from the Ambler backdrop. In it's place now are new condominium looking houses that run the length of South Main Street from Orange Avenue to Church Street. I was not happy to see the change. I never am. It is though the function of and artist or photographer or historian to preserve these places in a way that captures the essence of the way they looked and felt.
