SUMNEYTOWN HOTEL
On the way west up 63 to Green Lane or Camp Delmont
or to fish in The Unami Creek with my father,
we used to always stop for a birch beer and a bag of peanuts
at the Sumneytown Hotel.
When I got back to it a few years ago I was happy
to find it exactly as I remembered it inside and out.
Painting it, I was faking my way through the bricks
knowing only a brick layer would know the difference.
A few hours after thinking that cars started pulling into
the parking lot.  Believe it or not, they were arriving for a
brick layer union luncheon. They were very tolerant.
